ED officer caught ‘red handed’ taking bribe in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has swung into action after an Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer was arrested on Friday for accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a government employee. On Saturday, DVAC officials left the ED sub-zonal office in Madurai after conducting searches in connection with the case related to ED officer Ankit Tiwari, information about which has been given by news agency ANI. Ankit Tiwari was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a doctor in Dindigul.

Information regarding the arrest of the ED officer has been given by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption. After being detained in Dindigul, a team of DVAC officials conducted ‘investigation’ at the sub-regional ED office in Madurai, during which state police personnel were seen deployed outside the central government office. An official release was issued by DVAC in which the arrested officer has been identified as Ankit Tiwari, who is working as an enforcement officer in the Madurai Enforcement Department office of the Central Government.

Involvement of other ED officers will be investigated

According to media reports, DVAC has said that the possible involvement of other ED officials in the bribery case will be investigated. An inquiry will be made for this. News of vigilance team officer searching Tiwari’s residence and the office of the Enforcement Directorate in Madurai has also come to light. Places associated with Ankit Tiwari are also being searched.
