West Bengal: 51 feet statue of Mother Saraswati becomes the center of attraction in Durgapur.

Durgapur, Avinash Yadav: in Durgapur, West Bengal Saraswati Puja Preparations regarding this are in the final stages. For the first time, a 51 feet statue of Maa Saraswati has been made by Ispat Palli Netaji Club under ward number four of Durgapur, which was inaugurated by Municipal Corporation Administrator Anindita Mukherjee. Many officials including former councilor Moni Das Gupta were present on the occasion. The organizers claim that for the first time in the district, a 51 feet statue has been built in Durgapur. Due to which the enthusiasm among the city residents and organizers is at its peak.

Every year an effort is made to do something special during Saraswati Puja.

Puja committee secretaries Siddharth Saini alias Sidhu and Hrithik Pal told that this time the statue is being constructed by skilled artisans of Bankura, Anup Pal and his associates. Along with the use of straw, clay, bamboo strips, ornaments and gorgeous sarees have been placed on the body of Mother Saraswati in the construction of the statue. The club has been organizing puja for 17 years. Every year an effort is made to do something special in Saraswati Puja.

Last year a 41 feet statue was constructed. This time a 51 feet statue of Mother Saraswati has been constructed. During the puja, a grand fair and week-long cultural program is organized in the grounds adjacent to the pandal. This time the budget of puja has been kept at more than Rs. 6 lakhs. In view of the Higher Secondary examinations, the immersion of the statue will be done with the help of fire brigade on 15th February. Club members including committee president Hemant Sengupta are playing an active role in organizing the puja.
