Supreme Court seeks response from Center and ED in the case of arrest of AAP leader Sanjay Singh

AAP Leader Sanjay Singh: Hearing was held in the Supreme Court on the petition filed in the arrest and remand case of Delhi AAP leader Sanjay Singh. Also, the Supreme Court on Monday sought response from the Center and the Enforcement Directorate on the petition challenging the arrest and remand of Sanjay Singh in the money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. Let us inform that the Supreme Court bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and SVN Bhatti has sought response from the Center and ED regarding the arrest petition of Sanjay Singh by December 11, 2023.

The bench hearing the case in the Supreme Court has ordered that if Sanjay Singh files a petition for interim bail, then it should be considered independent of the observations made in the October 20 judgment of the Delhi High Court. Let us tell you that Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh was arrested by ED on October 4 in the Delhi Excise Policy case and he had approached the Supreme Court challenging the decision of Delhi High Court.

At the same time, the High Court in its earlier order had refused to interfere in his arrest in the case and had said that it cannot accuse a major investigating agency of political motive in the absence of material on record. The ED is building a case against Sanjay Singh and several other accused on the basis of the investigation initiated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR.

Let us inform you that according to CBI and ED, irregularities were committed while revising the now expired Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 and undue benefits were given to the license holders. In the same case, Sanjay Singh was sent to ED custody after investigation, which said that he had played an important role in the formulation and implementation of the policy, which has become a bone of controversy and political war for the AAP government.
