Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi murder case: Rajasthan Police and Delhi Police have arrested three people, including two shooters, involved in the murder of Rajput leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in a joint operation after they were caught in Chandigarh. The accused, who were caught from outside a hotel in Chandigarh on Saturday night, were brought to Jaipur under tight security of Delhi and Rajasthan Police and were taken to Sodala police station. Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said at a press conference here on Sunday that shooters Nitin Fauji and Rohit Rathore were detained along with their associate Udham Singh in Sector 22, Chandigarh last night.
Nitin Fauji Lance Naik in Indian Army
Nitin Fauji, resident of Mahendragarh, Haryana, is a Lance Naik in the Indian Army. This joint operation was carried out by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police and the Special Police Team (SIT) of Rajasthan Police. Nitin Fauji, Rohit Rathod and Naveen Shekhawat had gone to the house of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Shyam Nagar area of Jaipur on December 5. After talking with Gogamedi for a few minutes, they opened fire on him, killing him. Naveen Shekhawat was also shot dead by both the shooters.
Gogamedi’s private security guard injured by bullet
In this incident, Gogamedi’s personal security guard was injured by a bullet. The accused had gone there in an SUV car which was being driven by Naveen Shekhawat. While escaping, the accused shot a scooter driver. Police Commissioner said that after the murder, both of them reached Didwana by Rajasthan Roadways bus and then took a taxi to Sujangarh, from there they reached Dharuhera (Haryana). He told that both of them reached Rewari from Dharuhera by taxi and then took a train to Hisar where they met Udam Singh.
All three criminals reached Manali by taxi
He told that all three reached Manali by taxi and stayed in a hotel for two days before going to Chandigarh. He said that Haryana Police and Delhi Police helped Rajasthan Police in the search operation. According to him, inputs were also exchanged with Punjab Police. Gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took responsibility in a Facebook post and said that Gogamedi was supporting his enemies.
No comment on motive
When asked about the motive of the murder, the Police Commissioner said that there is no clarity on the motive and something concrete can be said only after interrogating the accused. He said, “I cannot comment on the motive right now. The shooters were caught last night and will be interrogated.” On Naveen Shekhawat’s role, Joseph said he was equally involved in the crime. Yesterday, Jaipur Police arrested a person for helping Nitin Fauji in Jaipur. He was produced before a magistrate. The magistrate sent him to police custody.
The next step is to reach the mastermind of the murder.
The Police Commissioner said, “In the first phase, the shooters and those who helped them have been arrested. “The next phase is about reaching out to the masterminds and conspirators of the murder.” Joseph said that Rajasthan Police will complete this work before handing over the case to NIA. When the Jaipur Police Commissioner was asked why he was not provided security despite intelligence inputs about the attack and letters by Gogamedi demanding security, he said that a judicial inquiry had already been ordered by the police headquarters in this regard. Nitin Fauji has two pistols and many magazines

Nitin Fauji had gone to his home in Mahendragarh (Haryana) on November 7 on a two-day leave. During his stay there, he along with his two friends Bhavani Singh and Rahul Kothal got involved in a scuffle with Anupam Soni and others in the Khudana police. Bhavani had an old dispute with Anupam Soni and Nitin Fauji. Bhavani and Rahul had gone to reach a settlement, where a scuffle broke out and the police arrived.
The accused had reached Hisar to avoid arrest
After opening fire at Haryana Police, all three fled from the spot after which a case was registered at Sadar police station in Mahendragarh. Meanwhile, the accused reached Hisar to avoid arrest and Udham Singh made arrangements for them there. Bhavani Singh was already in contact with Rohit Godara. He introduced Nitin Fauji to Rohit Godara over phone and prepared him to carry out the murder (of Gogamedi) in Jaipur. The Police Commissioner said that the gang that arranged weapons for the shooters has been identified and a separate investigation is being conducted.
Criminals caught from Sector 22, Chandigarh
Rajasthan Police had announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to the arrest of each accused. Delhi Police sources said on Sunday that a team of the Crime Branch in a joint operation with Rajasthan Police caught the two criminals from Sector 22, Chandigarh. According to sources, he also had an associate Udham Singh with him, who was also caught.
