RRTS: Delhi-Meerut journey will be done in 60 minutes, PM Modi will unveil Rapid Rail on October 20, know 10 things

Lucknow : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the rapid rail on the 17 km long priority section Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor on October 20. India’s first regional train service RapidX is going to start on Friday i.e. October 20 at a distance of 17 kilometers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this section on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) in Ghaziabad that day. The entire corridor will be operational by 2025. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had inspected the Sahibabad station of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project before its inauguration on October 12. NCRTC officials said on Monday that these trains look similar to metro trains but their coaches are equipped with facilities like luggage carriers and mini screens. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation has been entrusted with the task of overseeing the construction of India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System or RRTS between Delhi and Meerut. NCRTC had earlier said that the target is to commission the entire 82.15 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS by June 2025.

Know everything about this high-speed regional rail service in these 10 things.

1. RRTS has been developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), a joint venture of the Government of India and the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Established as a result of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Center and four states on June 29, 2011, NCRTC was formally incorporated as a company on August 21, 2013.

2. Construction of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor started in 2019. After a year, the first look of RRTS train was released.

3. According to a document shared by NCRTC, RRTS is different from Metro Rail. Its operating speed is 160 kilometers per hour compared to the metro’s speed of 80 kilometers per hour. While a metro train will take three hours to complete a journey of 100 kilometres, the RRTS will cover the distance in just one hour.

4. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is the first RRTS project to be implemented in India, and will be followed by the Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat corridors.

5. The total length of Delhi-Meerut corridor is 82 kilometers which will be covered in just one hour. It includes 24 stations. The first phase, covering a distance of 17 kilometres, will cover five stations – Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.

6. NCRTC said it has worked with the Centre, four state governments and transport systems to develop deeper multi-modal integration at RRTS stations. Wherever possible, these RRTS stations will be integrated with various metro lines, airports and bus stands. On September 15, NCRTC said that the construction of RRTS viaduct crossing on the Blue Line of Delhi Metro corridor at a height of about 20 meters near New Ashok Nagar Metro Station has been successfully completed.

7. This project has been constructed at a cost of Rs 30,274 crore. The Asian Development Bank, New Development Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank have also financed the project.

8. RRTS trains have several passenger-centric amenities like overhead luggage racks, Wi-Fi, mobile and laptop charging facilities at every seat. Each train will have a premium class car with wider seats, more leg room and coat hangers. Trains will also be equipped with vending machine facilities.

9. NCRTC has said that more women employees than men will be involved in operations on the 17 km long primary section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor. It is noteworthy that participation of women employees in the operation of this section will be more than that of male employees. “The NCRTC has taken a purposeful step towards breaking the established gender norms in the transport sector, which has traditionally been considered male-dominated, by ensuring equal participation of women,” the company was quoted as saying by PTI.

10. A dedicated ‘Lost and Found’ center has been set up at the Ghaziabad Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) station for speedy recovery of lost luggage, a National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) statement said on Monday. Is.
