Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday visited Pangong Lake during his visit to Ladakh, weeks ahead of voting for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council-Kargil (LAHDC-Kargil). The Wayanad MP shared 10 pictures of his bike trip to Ladakh on Instagram.
Sharing the pictures, Rahul Gandhi wrote, ‘On the way to Pangong Lake, which my father used to say is one of the most beautiful places in the world.’ Some of the pictures were also shared by the official X handle of the Congress party with the caption, “Up and Onward – Unstoppable!”
Gandhi is expected to stay overnight at a tourist camp near Pangong Lake. Tsering Namgyal, Leh district spokesperson of the Congress and leader of the opposition in the LAHDC-Leh, said on Friday, “He has not gone to Pangong lake and wanted to see it and spend some quality time.”
This is Rahul’s first visit to Ladakh since Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two union territories, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, following the abrogation of Article 370.
Rahul Gandhi reached Ladakh on Thursday and was warmly welcomed by party leaders and workers at Leh airport. He interacted with the youth in a program in Leh on Friday.
Addressing an interactive session, Rahul Gandhi said that “India got independence in 1947 and strengthening freedom in India is constitutional. The Constitution is one step… The way you implement the Constitution, it sets up institutions.” by those who support the view of the Constitution.”
The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha bind all these elements… What the RSS is doing now is placing its people at key positions in the institutional structure.”
Rahul Gandhi was on a two-day Ladakh tour but on Friday he extended his tour for six days.
The Congress and the National Conference have formed a pre-poll alliance against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Kargil Hill Council elections to be held on 10 September.
