Mamta Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to discuss the state’s pending central funds. According to the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister proposed that state and central officials can sit together and resolve the issues.
Banerjee, along with nine party MPs, told reporters after meeting the Prime Minister in the Parliament complex that 155 teams from the Center have already visited West Bengal,
Banerjee said, “We did not get even a single penny for 100 days of work under ‘MNREGA’ in the budget for the year 2022-23.
Rural development schemes have been stopped and health campaign programs have also been stopped. We are not getting funds even under the Finance Commission.
He said, “Our officials have given all the clarifications that the Center had sought.
The Prime Minister has said that there will be a joint meeting between Central and State officials. I told that we have given clarification 155 times
We can do this again, they can decide on some formula. Both the central government and the state government have a stake in the federal structure.
Regarding the pending ‘MNREGA’ funds for the state, he said that it is mandatory to pay the workers under the Constitution.
Abhishek Banerjee and 11 MPs from the ruling party Trinamool were also present in the meeting. After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “A ten-member delegation including our MPs met the PM today.”
Banerjee said, “It is not appropriate to stop the amount given to poor people. He said that the Center owes an amount of Rs 1.15 lakh crore to West Bengal.
