Lok Sabha Election 2024: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee has requested to reconsider the date because 26th April is Friday which is an important day for the Muslim community.

Kerala Congress President wrote a letter to the Commission

Party sources said that State Congress Working President MM Hasan and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly VD Satheesan have jointly written a letter to the Commission and cited the possible problems faced by Muslim voters due to April 26 being a Friday. It has been requested to change the date of voting from 26th April.

Congress pointed towards these problems

The Congress party has said in its letter that holding elections on Friday or Sunday can cause a lot of inconvenience to the people including election officials, booth agents and voters. Earlier, Congress’s ally in Kerala, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) had also expressed its intention to approach the Commission on the same issue.

Voting to be held in one phase on all 20 seats of Kerala

While announcing the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Election Commission had said that voting will be conducted in one phase on all the 20 seats of Kerala. Voting for 20 seats in Kerala is to be held on April 26.
