Karnataka Election 2023: Voting continues in Karnataka elections. There are also reports of obstructing voting from many places during the elections. In this episode, during the ongoing voting for the assembly elections on Wednesday, people of Masabinal village of Vijayapura district stopped the vehicle carrying Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), manhandled an official and damaged the control and ballot units. At the same time, 23 people have been arrested in this case.

Sabotage by stopping the vehicle: Regarding the matter, the Election Commission said that the villagers damaged two control and ballot units and three VVPATs (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) by stopping the vehicle of a section officer carrying EVMs reserved for the assembly elections. The commission also said that the people also assaulted the section officer. 23 people have been arrested in the whole case.

Due to this the villagers got angry: The Election Commission has said in its statement that after the incident top officials of the district reached the village which comes under Basavana Bagewadi assembly constituency. According to police sources, a rumor spread in the village that the officials were changing EVMs and VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) machines, after which the villagers did this.

Clash between Congress-BJP workers: Meanwhile, some youths armed with sticks attacked their political rivals at a polling booth in Papaya Garden in Padmanabhanagar assembly constituency here. Sources said they went berserk, due to which some women standing in the queue to vote suffered injuries. In another incident, some Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers clashed with each other at Sanjeevarayankote in Bellary district.
