Illegal mining case: ED writes letter to Sahibganj SP for action against Pankaj and others, photo taken from drone

Jharkhand News: After probing the ongoing illegal mining in Sahibganj, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has written a letter to the SP of Sahibganj to take action against Pankaj Mishra, Vishnu Yadav and others. Along with the letter, a picture taken from a drone of explosives used for illegal mining and blasting has also been sent.

What did ED write in the letter

In the letter sent by the ED, it was said that on the basis of the FIR (6/22) lodged in connection with the illegal mining at Nibu Pahar, the ECIR was registered by the ED. Based on the facts mentioned in the FIR, the ED officials conducted a site inspection on April 5, 2023. During this, officers and employees of Pollution Control Board, Forest Department, Zonal Office were present along with ED officials. Earlier, stone quarries were inspected in the district from 25 to 29 July 2022. During the investigation in April 2023, illegal mining was found on Nibu Pahar of Mandaro Zone, Plot No. 69P, 70P, 71P and 73P of Mouza-Sivaria of Jhagru Chowki. During investigation it was also confirmed that these illegal mines are being run by Pankaj Mishra, Chhotu Yadav and others. Comparing the latest pictures taken from the drone with the situation in July 2022 confirms illegal mining during these eight months.

From the picture taken from the drone, fresh traces of movement of big vehicles, Poklan, JCB etc. were found on the kutcha roads. This confirms the continuation of illegal mining at these places. Apart from this, the pictures taken from the drone also confirmed the planting of explosives for illegal mining at many places. The facts found in the latest investigation are related to the facts mentioned in the FIR lodged in Sahibganj police station in the year 2022 in connection with Nibu Pahar.

ED team returned after two days of investigation

The ED team probing the illegal stone mining case in Sahibganj district returned to Ranchi on Friday. The ED team carried out investigations related to illegal mining for two days and on the third day handed over solid evidence to the Deputy Commissioner and SP about the continuation of illegal mining in the respective areas. In this case, Jirwabari case number 301/22 has been registered by the district administration against the unknown for illegal mining in Simariya Mauza.
