Dandy. A youth has died due to drowning in Kozhi Dam in the district. He came here to hang out with his friends. This accident happened while taking bath in the dam. A young man from Katoriya village had gone to bathe with his friends in Kozhi Dam of Amarpur police station area, during which he died due to drowning. The youth has been identified as Shabit, son of Afroz, a resident of Katoria village of Amarpur police station area. Shabit had gone to visit Kozhi Dam with some of his friends. There he started bathing in the dam with his friends. All Shabit’s friends came out of the water after taking bath, but Shabit was nowhere to be seen. Seeing him not in the water, the servants started making noise. Hearing the noise, the nearby villagers reached near the dam.

Hundreds of people from Katoria village started searching for Shabit in Kozhi Dam. Shabit was not found anywhere for a long time. Here, the family members informed about the incident at Amarpur police station. On getting the information, Amarpur police station chief Vinod Kumar along with the police force reached Kozhi Dam. After this the diver started searching for the dead body. After hard work, Shabit’s body was recovered near the gate of the eastern canal of Kozhi Dam. The place where the dead body was found, there is a pit about twenty feet deep.
Prabhu used to live in maternal grandfather’s house.
The villagers told that Shabit’s mother had died at the age of five. A few months after the mother’s death, her father Afroz also died. After the death of the parents, Shabit and his sister were brought up by his maternal grandfather Akhtar Ali, who lives in Katoriya village. Shabit used to work as a tailor while living in Nagpur. Fifteen days back, he had come to his maternal grandfather’s house in Katoriya village to celebrate Shabit Bakrid. The police station chief who reached the spot said that with the help of a diver, the body has been recovered from deep water. While doing the panchnama of the dead body, the dead body has been sent to Banka for postmortem in police custody.
