What Is Google Android Earthquake Alerts : Google has launched an amazing feature for its Android users in India. Through this feature, you will know that an earthquake is going to occur even before it occurs. This system will use sensors in your phone like accelerometer to warn you in advance of earthquake.
Although the Android earthquake alert system is already present in many countries around the world, Google is now bringing it to India with the help of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Seismology Center (NSC).
This is how earthquake alert system works
According to Google, this system will use the accelerometer as a seismograph and turn the phone into a mini earthquake detector. When your phone is charging and not moving, it will be able to sense the first sign of an earthquake.
If earthquake alert comes at the same time in many phones, then Google’s server can find out at which place the earthquake is occurring and what its intensity will be.
Actually, Google’s server sends two alerts to nearby phones. The first is ‘Be careful alert’, which is sent during an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 or more. The second take action alert, which is sent during an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 or more.
It is known that if the intensity of the earthquake is high, then it bypasses the Do Not Disturb settings and turns on the screen.
