Yogi government will open Didi Cafe in these 17 municipal corporations, women will get employment opportunities, know full details

Lucknow : In Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government is continuously working towards women empowerment and making them self-reliant. In this sequence, the preparations to open Didi Cafe in 17 Municipal Corporations of the state have intensified. In the pilot phase, cafes are to be opened in cities like Aligarh, Mathura, Vrindavan, Ayodhya, Lucknow etc. The process of selecting a suitable site for this has been started by the administration in Aligarh.

Principal Secretary Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation Amrit Abhijat had directed regarding the opening of Didi Cafe in the past. In the first phase, these cafes will also open in Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Agra, Bareilly, Meerut, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Jhansi, Firozabad, Shahjahanpur and Mathura-Vrindavan.

Purpose of starting Didi Cafe

The purpose of starting Didi Cafe is to provide employment opportunities to women associated with urban poor support groups. People will be able to get clean food at a reasonable price. Based on the experience of the canteen running in Varanasi, a proposal will be prepared from DUDA. On the basis of this proposal, Didi cafes will be started in all civic bodies.

Will start on the lines of Varanasi

The cost of food items available in Didi Cafe to be opened in government offices will be less. These cafes will be on the lines of Varanasi. Self-help groups women of the city will run these cafes. Duda officer Kaushal Kumar told that Didi Cafe is to be opened under the Urban Livelihood Mission. A suitable place for this will be selected soon.

Yogi government will give free cylinders to these people

In view of the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024, the Yogi government is going to fulfill the promise made in the 2022 assembly elections. Instead of giving two free LPG cylinders to 1.75 crore beneficiaries under the Ujjwala scheme, it is considering putting money in their bank accounts. Rs 914.50 will be paid for one cylinder. This payment will be done twice a year. The Yogi government is planning to send the first installment money in Diwali. Regarding this, the process of linking the bank accounts of the beneficiaries with Aadhaar has been expedited.

On the other hand, there is a plan to give the second cylinder in Holi, the money for this will also be deposited in the government’s account. Let us tell you that during the assembly elections, the BJP had promised to give free cylinders to the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme on Holi and Diwali, but after the elections, one Diwali and one Holi have passed, the second Diwali is about to come, but till now the beneficiaries Cylinder not found. The Lok Sabha elections are also to be held in 2024, keeping this in mind, the Yogi government has planned to give LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries.

In fact, the retail and average price of the cylinder is Rs 1144, the subsidy of Rs 230 is received from the central government, which, if reduced, becomes Rs 914.50. The Yogi government has agreed to pay Rs 914.50 for a cylinder to the beneficiaries. The UP government will now send money to the accounts of those beneficiaries of the scheme, whose accounts are linked to Aadhaar.
