The competition format will include two groups of seven teams each. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six stage, leading to semi-finals and a final to determine the eventual winner. Like the 2003 World Cup format, teams will play against each other in the group stage. Additionally, the 2027 version reintroduces a modified version of the Point Carry Forward (PCF) system, which was first used in 1999. The venues and dates for the 2027 edition have not been announced yet. During the 2003 tournament, matches were held in 12 stadiums in South Africa, two in Zimbabwe and one in Kenya.
