He bowled the right ball at the right time. I have never seen this from a middle overs bowler, especially a fast bowler. So a lot of credit goes to him.
Labuschagne scored a half century in the final
Labuschagne had scored an unbeaten half-century in the final. He also praised coach Andrew McDonald’s strategy making and said that the team analyst put India under pressure by planning. Labuschagne said, ‘Strategically, Andrew MacDonald and our analyst first got the toss decision right and then by doing well in different conditions, we took early wickets of the Indian players and then put pressure on their bowlers.’
The coach helped a lot
He said, ‘Our plan was to take five wickets in 30 overs and the Australian bowlers did the same. The bowlers performed brilliantly with Pat leading the way. Labuschagne also said that the coach had full confidence in the players which created a good atmosphere in the dressing room. He said, ‘His coaching record speaks for itself. He never doubted us, I think that created a good environment. He and Pat work well together.
