Mathematics and science students can make a career in this field. To make a career as a meteorologist, you will have to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science. Candidates who have passed 12th with Science stream i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Maths or Biology from any recognized institute can apply for graduation course. Synoptic Meteorology: In this, information is obtained about low pressure areas, air, water, other weather systems, cyclones, pressure levels and a map is collected which gives a synoptic view of the weather of the entire world, etc.
Dynamic Meteorology: In this, atmospheric processes are studied through mathematical formulas.
Agricultural Meteorology: In this branch, scientists assess weather related information regarding crop yield and losses caused by it.
Applied Meteorology: In this, theory research is done towards aircraft design, air pollution and control, architectural design, urban planning, air conditioning, tourism development etc.

The expansion in the field of meteorology has created good job opportunities for meteorology professionals in both government and private sectors. As a meteorologist, you can find work opportunities in weather broadcast stations, environmental agencies, government agencies such as meteorological departments, industrial weather research facilities, military departments, satellite space research centers, radio and television stations, and global weather centers. Airlines also require meteorologists for weather information. Space Applications Centers also recruit meteorologists, because satellite launches also depend on weather conditions.
