Will Lalu Yadav’s bail be canceled in the fodder scam case? RJD president filed reply in SC, know update

Bihar News: RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav has filed a reply in the Supreme Court. A demand has been made on behalf of Lalu Yadav to dismiss the petition filed by the CBI in the fodder scam case. On August 21, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Chief Minister of Bihar demanded the dismissal of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s plea seeking cancellation of the bail granted to him in the Doranga treasury case related to the fodder scam. It has been opposed by the RJD supremo.

Special CBI court had sentenced

It may be known that in this case, Lalu Yadav was granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court on April 22 last. In the case of embezzlement of more than Rs 139 crore from Doranda treasury, a special CBI court in Ranchi sentenced him to five years in jail. Along with this, a fine of 60 lakh was imposed on him. According to media reports, Lalu Yadav has said in his reply in the Supreme Court that the Jharkhand High Court’s order suspending his sentence cannot be challenged on the ground that the CBI is unsatisfied.

No need to interfere in HC’s order- Lalu Yadav

In his order, the RJD supremo has spoken about ill health and old age. Also said that keeping them in jail will not serve the purpose of CBI. He has also said that there is no need to interfere in the HC order. Because this order is based on common principles and uniform rules. Significantly, on February 15, 2022, the CBI court of Ranchi convicted Lalu Yadav in the fodder scam case. The next hearing in this matter will be held on 25 August. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice (CJI) DY Chandrachud will hold the next hearing. The CBI has demanded cancellation of the bail granted to Lalu Yadav by the Jharkhand High Court. An application has been filed in the court on behalf of the CBI.
