AI Impact Election: China can take the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in an attempt to influence the Lok Sabha elections in India. According to a report by Microsoft, China can influence the general elections of India by using AI.
The Threat Intelligence Team of America’s big technology company Microsoft has claimed in one of its reports that Chinese cyber groups will target important elections in some other countries including the general elections in India this year.

Microsoft has said in its report that North Korea may also have a role in this move of China. According to the report, China is preparing content on AI targeting the major elections to be held across the world this year, especially in India, South Korea and America.
AI has become a major weapon for hackers. With its help any audio-video clip can be easily tampered with. With the help of AI, a special message can be shared publicly in the name of famous personalities by changing their voice.

Microsoft has said that in January this year, AI content was used to influence Taiwan’s presidential elections. This was the first attempt by any country to influence the elections being held in another country with government-backed AI generated content. China is continuously engaged in creating and circulating memes, audio and videos through AI.
In India, the great festival of democracy i.e. general elections, voting will be held for 543 seats on 19 April, 26 April, 7 May, 13 May, 20 May, 25 May and 1 June. On April 19, in the first phase for 102 seats, on April 26 in the second phase for 89 seats, on May 7 in the third phase for 94 seats, on May 13 in the fourth phase for 96 seats, on May 20 in the fifth phase. Voting will be held for 49 seats, on May 25 for 57 seats in the sixth phase and on June 1 for 57 seats in the seventh and last phase. The results of the Lok Sabha elections will come on June 4, 2024.
