Will AAP get national party status? Karnataka HC gave this order to EC

Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party Whether it will get the status of a national party or not, it will be decided before 13th April. In fact, the Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to pass an order before April 13 regarding the national party status of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Responding to the court’s direction, the CEC representative confirmed that it would be done on April 11.

AAP knocks out Karnataka High Court to get national party status

In fact, the Aam Aadmi Party had approached the Karnataka High Court regarding the delay in granting the status of a national party. The petition was filed in the Karnataka HC by AAP Karnataka unit convenor Prithvi Reddy. AAP has said in the petition that it fulfills all the conditions required to be designated as a national party. But in spite of that there has been delay in giving party status.

AAP cited this order to get national party status

Aam Aadmi Party also referred to section 6B of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968 regarding the condition of recognition as a national party. According to the Election Commission, under the first condition, the candidate put up by the party in any four or more states in the last general election or to the Legislative Assembly of the concerned state won not less than six percent of the votes cast in the last general election.
