In connection with the death of Nishank Garg, the local leader of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Kankarkheda police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district, the police have arrested his wife. Senior Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajwan gave this information on Monday. He told that the body of Govindpuri resident Nishank Garg was found in his house on Saturday morning, which had bullet wounds. Nishank’s wife Sonia was taken into custody on Saturday night.

SSP Sajwan told that on Sunday, on the basis of Nishank Garg’s brother Gaurav’s complaint, a case of culpable homicide was registered against Sonia and she was arrested. He told that Sonia was produced in the court which sent Sonia to judicial custody. According to the SSP, Sonia told during interrogation that Nishank wanted to shoot her with a pistol, but in the snatch, Nishank was hit by the bullet which resulted in his death. Nishank’s body was found in suspicious condition at his Govindpuri residence on Saturday with a bullet wound on his chest. Then Sonia claimed that Nishank committed suicide in the early hours of Saturday.
Wife changing statements again and again
In her statement to the police, Sonia had also claimed that on Friday night her husband had drunk excessively and pushed her. Citing Sonia’s statement, the police had earlier told that she went to her father’s house, which is near Nishank’s house, at around 3 am on Friday. When she returned, she found Nishank soaked in blood and had a bullet wound in his chest.
An empty bottle of wine and a glass were found in the room
The SSP had earlier said that Sonia told the police that when she found her husband dead on reaching home in the morning, she was very scared and hid the pistol. The police who reached the spot did not find the pistol, but after questioning, Sonia took out the pistol and her husband’s mobile phone from the cupboard and handed them over to the police. According to the SSP, though Sonia did not tell the police where the pistol came from, an empty liquor bottle and a glass were found in her room. BJP’s metropolitan unit president Mukesh Singhal told that Nishank Garg was the social media in-charge of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s regional unit (Western Uttar Pradesh).
