Why is the capital’s traffic system not improving: High Court

Ranchi. Jharkhand High Court heard the PIL filed regarding the poor traffic system in the capital Ranchi. While hearing the case, the division bench of Justice Rangan Mukhopadhyay and Justice Deepak Roshan asked orally why the traffic system of the capital Ranchi is not improving. The problem of jam persists in the city throughout the day. Expressing displeasure over the traffic situation, the division bench directed the Traffic SP of Ranchi to be physically present. The next hearing of the case will be on April 3.

The division bench said that there is encroachment by roadside shopkeepers. This increases the problem of traffic jams. People are suffering from traffic jam. Traffic signals are bad at many places. It was said that arrangements for multi storage parking would be made at Kokar, Sujata Chowk, Upper Bazaar and other places. Why has multi storage parking not been made till now? The division bench also asked why the licenses of drivers who continuously violate traffic signals are not suspended. Information about traffic rules should be given to the common people from time to time, so that people can become aware of the rules. Earlier, advocate LCN Shahdev, appearing for Ranchi Municipal Corporation, told the bench that the construction work of three flyovers is going on in Ranchi city. Due to this the problem of traffic jam is occurring. The construction of Kantatoli flyover is likely to be completed in the month of December this year. Once the construction of the flyover is completed, people will get relief from the problem of traffic jam. Many improvements have been made in the traffic system as compared to before. Rs 1000 is charged as fine from those who violate traffic rules. It is noteworthy that applicant Rahul Kumar Das has filed a PIL.

State government should file affidavit in case of food adulteration: High Court

Ranchi. Jharkhand High Court heard the PIL filed suo motu regarding adulteration of food items including milk. During the hearing, the division bench of Justice Rangan Mukhopadhyay and Justice Deepak Roshan said orally that people are falling ill due to consumption of adulterated food items, but the state government is not worried. How many food safety officers have been appointed and how many posts are pending. Whether the food lab is functional for testing adulterated food items or not. What action has the government taken on the guidance sought by JPSC? The division bench directed the state government to file a detailed reply through an affidavit. Also, the date of 9th April was fixed for the next hearing of the case. Earlier, amicus curiae Piyush Poddar of the case argued. On behalf of JPSC, advocate Sanjay Piprawal, Prince Kumar said that in the year 2023, advertisement was issued to fill 56 posts of Food Safety Officer and the posts of Microbiologist etc. The Commission has sought guidance from the State Government on some points, but it has not been received yet. It is noteworthy that Jharkhand High Court took the news of milk adulteration seriously and converted it into a PIL.
