Know the history of National Tourism Day
Celebrating Tourism Day in India started in the year 1948. For this, Tourism Traffic Committee was formed. About three years after its formation, in 1951, offices for promoting tourists were started in Kolkata and Chennai. However, later tourism offices were also established in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The Tourism Department was established in the year 1998 under the leadership of the Minister of Tourism and Communications.
