Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu to Validate Cannabis Cultivation: The Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh is preparing to legalize the cultivation of cannabis in the state. A policy will be made for the cultivation of cannabis in Himachal. The state is expected to earn Rs 18,000 crore annually by legalizing cannabis cultivation. Organized illegal cultivation of cannabis is taking place in an estimated 2400 acres of land in the state. Hemp has traditionally been grown in parts of old Himachal, including Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Chamba and Sirmaur. The government has formed a committee of five MLAs to legalize the cultivation of hemp. This committee will visit the areas of Himachal where cannabis is cultivated illegally. After studying all the aspects, this committee will submit its report to the government within a month. On the basis of this report, the government will take a final decision regarding legalizing the cultivation of cannabis.
