The ban is effective for the next five years

The ban will remain in effect for a period of five years from the date of publication in the Official Gazette until further orders. According to a ministry official, so far this year, four organizations have been banned under the anti-terrorism law UAPA and six individuals have been declared terrorists.

Masarat Alam Bhat is in jail since 2010

Masarat Alam Bhat has been in jail since 2010 for his alleged involvement in violent protests in the Kashmir Valley. Bhat was accused of playing a key role in instigating violent protests in Kashmir in 2010. More than 100 youth were killed in the protests.
