Kotak Mahindra Bank (Kotak Mahindra Bank) announced that Ashok Vaswani (Ashok Vaswani) Chief Executive Officer of the Bank (ceo) and Managing Director (MD) as founder Uday Kotak (Uday Kotak) will replace. This was announced by the bank’s interim CEO and MD Deepak Gupta. The Reserve Bank of India has also approved it.

According to media reports, KVS Manian and Shanthi Ekambaram were the frontrunners for this top post. However, Uday will still continue as a non-executive director of Kotak Bank. Uday Kotak said in a statement that Ashok is a world-class leader and digital and customer-focused banker. I am proud that we bring home a ‘Global Indian’ to build Kotak.
It is said that Ashok Vaswani was currently the chairman of US-Israel fintech firm Pagaya Technologies. He has had a long career with global lenders including Citigroup and Barclays. He is an alumnus of Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. Also, is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary.
Ashok Vaswani served as CEO of Barclays Bank, UK and later CEO of the lender’s global consumer, private, corporate and payments businesses and a member of its Group Executive Committee. He also served as CEO of Citigroup Asia Pacific and a member of Citigroup’s global operating and management committees.
Ashok Vaswani is also a member of the board of London Stock Exchange Group, SP Jain Institute of Global Management, UK. He is also a part of many NGOs including Pratham and Lend-a-Hand.
