Gorakhpur: A youth working in the Merchant Navy was shot dead by friends outside his house late on Wednesday night in Suba Bazaar of Khorabar police station area of Gorakhpur. The criminals fled after committing the crime. The young man’s family members came out after hearing the sound of gunshot and came to know about the incident. The SP along with the police reached the city and started investigating the case. The age of the deceased youth Rakesh Singh was 25 years. Rakesh Singh had come on leave 20 days ago. First he came to his brother in Lucknow, after staying there for a few days, he came to his home in Gorakhpur on the morning of Tuesday 12th September. Rakesh’s father Avadh Narayan Singh told that Rakesh asked for one lakh rupees from us after talking about some important work of his. I gave him Rs 95,000. Then he took the money and left the house. When he did not return home the whole night, everyone in the family started getting worried.
The young man was taken out of the gate of his house and shot in the head by his friend.
After this, calls were made to relatives and friends to inquire about his whereabouts but no trace of him was found. Later the family members informed the police. No help was received from there also. Rakesh suddenly came home on Wednesday night. The family members heaved a sigh of relief. Rakesh was looking a little worried. Awadh Narayan told, “I asked Rakesh about his disappearance at night but he did not tell anything. When his mother asked him to have food, four of his friends came to the house and called Rakesh out of the house. As soon as he came out of his gate, one of his friends shot him in the head. By the time we came out of the house after hearing the gunshot, the attackers had fled.” After this the family members informed the police. As soon as the information was received, the local police along with SP City Krishna Kumar Bishnoi and ASP Manus Pareek reached the spot along with the police force. After which the police investigated the spot and took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
Police is searching for the accused friends
At present the police is searching for the friends of deceased Rakesh. The police investigation so far has revealed that this incident took place over money. The police have identified the four friends and have prepared a police team to arrest them. According to father Avadh Narayan Singh, Rakesh’s marriage was fixed. The wedding was to take place on 7 December. The father told that on Tuesday evening at 5:30 Rakesh called and said that he did not have a car. Send someone to Kalika Hotel with a vehicle. After this, I took a young man in a car and sent him to the place told by Rakesh. When the young man reached there, Rakesh was partying with his friends, perhaps all of them had also consumed alcohol. The father told that Rakesh sent the young man back home. And said that you go, I will come home later. After which the young man came back. Rakesh’s phone was switched off at night.
After which his friends and relatives were called and searched for him. But no information was found about him. After which help was taken from the police but the police refused saying that this matter belonged to the Cantt police station area. After which he reached the Engineering College police post but no help was received from there also. After which the father reached home tired and defeated. On Wednesday, the family members searched for him the whole day. Rakesh reached his home at around 10:00 pm. The family members heaved a sigh of relief after seeing their son safe. But then his four friends came to the house and called him and asked him to come out. As soon as Rakesh came out, one of his four friends shot him. Due to the bullet hitting his head, he immediately fell down and died on the spot. He died.
