Basant Panchami 2024: The festival of Basant Panchami has special significance in Hindu religion. Mother Saraswati is duly worshiped on Basant Panchami. It is a religious belief that Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, was incarnated on this day. Basant Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month. Spring season begins in India from this day, Saraswati Puja is also performed on this day. Basant Panchami is worshiped after sunrise and before the middle of the day. This year the festival of Basanch Panchami will be celebrated on Wednesday, 14 February 2024.
Panchami Tithi will start on 13th February at 2:41 pm. Panchami Tithi will end on February 14 at 12:09 pm. Since Panchami Tithi falls on 14th February in Udaya Tithi, the festival of Basant Panchami will be celebrated on 14th February only. The auspicious time to worship Basant Panchami is from 7:01 am to 12:35 pm on 14 February 2024.
On the day of Basant Panchami, one should worship Goddess Saraswati by wearing yellow clothes and applying a yellow tilak on the forehead. After this, yellow clothes, yellow flowers, yellow sweets, turmeric and yellow color should be used in the worship of Goddess Saraswati. Celibacy should be followed on the day of Basant Panchami, cutting of trees and plants is also prohibited on this day. The day of Basant Panchami is the day of Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge. On this day, one should not insult pen, paper, medicine or things related to education even by mistake.
On the day of Basant Panchami, wake up in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes. Then offer yellow colored clothes to the statue or idol of Mother Saraswati. Now offer Roli, sandalwood, turmeric, saffron, sandalwood, yellow or white flowers, yellow sweets and Akshat. Offer musical instruments and books at the place of worship.
On the day of Basant Panchami, people associated with the field of education, art etc. worship Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of learning. If Saraswati Stotra is also read along with the worship of Goddess Saraswati, wonderful results are obtained and the Goddess is pleased.
Goddess of wealth ‘Lakshmi’ and Lord Vishnu are also worshiped on this day. Some people worship Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati together. People of business class worship Goddess Lakshmi. Reciting Shri Sukta along with worshiping Goddess Lakshmi is considered extremely beneficial.
