What will happen to the old building of Jharkhand High Court? The government said this to the court

The question now is what will happen to the Jharkhand High Court building located at Doranda. The last judicial work of the High Court took place in this building on 19 May 2023. After this the High Court was shifted to the new premises at Dhurwa. Judicial work is being held in the new green building located in Dhurva from June 12. At present no activity is being conducted in the building located at Doranda. However, the maintenance of the campus is being done regularly.

The state government has asked the Jharkhand High Court to hand over the old building. A request letter has also been sent to the High Court in this regard, although no decision has been taken by the High Court yet. When High Court Registrar General Mohammad Shakir was asked, he admitted that the state government’s letter has been received, but no decision has been taken on it yet.

The building located in Doranda has a proud history of 51 years.

The building of Jharkhand High Court located in Doranda boasts of a glorious history of 51 years. Here 19 May 2023 was the last day of regular court (judicial work). The Circuit Bench of Patna High Court in Ranchi was established on March 6, 1972. The bench was established to meet the needs of the tribal population of Chhotanagpur region of the erstwhile Bihar state. A permanent bench was established on April 8, 1976, after which cases started being heard daily. On the day of formation of Jharkhand High Court, on 15 November 2000, a total of eight posts including seven judges and Chief Justice were sanctioned, which has now increased to 25.
