Know why life consecration is done
Any kind of statue is a stone statue until it is consecrated. Pran Pratishtha literally means to establish life in an idol i.e. to make it alive. There are two types of Pran Pratistha. The first is movable life consecration, the second is immovable life consecration. For the rituals of Pran Pratishtha, first of all the idol is consecrated, for this the idol is kept immersed in water for one night. Which is called Jaladhivas. Then it is kept pressed in grains, this process is called Dhanyadhivas. After this, Jalabhishek of the idol is done. Then Panchamrit Abhishek is performed, in this ritual the Abhishek is done with 108 types of milk, curd, ghee, honey, sandalwood, aromatic liquids, juice of different types of flowers and leaves, after this the idol is finally anointed with Jalabhishek. It is asked with a clean and soft cloth. The idol is dressed in beautiful clothes and ornaments and is placed in a clean and sacred place. Naivedya is offered by lighting the incense lamp.
In order to open the doors of the idol, different parts of the idol are animate through different types of Vedic mantras, in this process the Sun God is invoked to awaken the eyes, the Vayu Dev to the ears and the Moon God to awaken the mind. . In the final step, the blindfold over the eyes of the idol is opened. While opening the door, a mirror is placed in front of the idol, after which the idol first looks in the mirror. Along with the complete rituals, the rituals are completed by performing Aarti, performing Shodashopachar puja, offering food etc. If seen in this way, the consecration of the incarnation of Lord Shri Ram along with Lord Vishnu is being done in a sacred and extremely auspicious time, which will be beneficial for the welfare of the world.
