What is the status of Hajipur Lok Sabha seat? Know the caste equation

Hajipur Lok Sabha seat equation: Once again swords have been drawn regarding the Hajipur reserved seat of Bihar which is famous in the country and the world. Election candidates are in the fray. Voting will be held here in the fifth phase on May 20, but the faces of the supporters of the candidates decided by NDA and Grand Alliance have started blooming. The electoral history of Hajipur shows that due to it being a safe seat, the fight here has been mainly between Paswan and Ravidas castes. Other castes have been doing the work of seasoning here. Whenever Ram Vilas Paswan was defeated here, it was the candidate from Ravidas caste who defeated him.

Be it Ramratan Ram of Congress in 1984 or Ramsundar Das of JDU in 2009, Paswan was defeated by candidates from Ravidas caste. This time too, on one hand Chirag Paswan has been declared the NDA candidate, while against him, the Grand Alliance has made local leader from Ravidas caste and former state minister Shivchandra Ram its candidate. Before 1977, Hajipur seat was in the possession of Congress. In 1977, Ram Vilas Paswan won with a record number of votes in the Janata Party wave.

Whenever the upper castes turned away from Paswan, they were defeated.

Experts say that whenever the upper caste voters turned away from Paswan, he had to face defeat. In terms of social equation, the population of Paswans is slightly more than that of Ravidas caste. Grand alliance’s RJD candidate Shivchandra Ram has faith in his own caste voters apart from my equation and backward classes. RJD has surrounded the NDA in such a manner that its political benefits can be seen in Hajipur also.

NDA has strength and support base with Chirag Paswan. Chirag’s supporters claim a large number of infractions even in the backward vote due to being with JDU. For example, there are a good number of Kurmi voters in this area. Apart from these, along with the upper caste voters, the Sahni-Mallah voters of the extremely backward caste have also been playing a decisive role.

The number of Yadav and Rajput voters is almost equal.

Retired Bihar Police officer Randhir Kumar Singh, while explaining the caste equation of Hajipur reserved seat, says, here the number of Yadav and Rajput voters is almost equal. The number of Yadav voters is highest in Raghopur. In Mahua, Yadav and Koeri voters have been giving strength to RJD. In Mahnar, majority of Rajput voters are seen among the upper caste. There is also a large number of Sahani voters in Hajipur area. From the banks of Ganga to Sarai, Bhagwanpur and Mahnar, Sahani voters have the power of their vote.

Randhir Kumar Singh, living in Vidupur of Raghopur, says, there is lack of basic facilities in Chanwar, waterlogging and Diara areas of Hajipur. Candidates never pay attention to this. According to him, law and order is also a big problem here.

Paras is also a factor in Hajipur

Former Union Minister and current MP Pashupati Kumar Paras is also a major factor regarding Hajipur Lok Sabha elections. Even though Paras may not have got the ticket this time, he has announced to campaign in favor of NDA candidates. Paras himself wanted to contest elections from Hajipur this time also. For this he tried with all his might till the last moments. Despite his best efforts, Chirag Paswan not only got the Hajipur seat from NDA but also reached an agreement on four more seats. Now it remains to be seen what will be the attitude of Paras’s supporters despite his announcement of staying with NDA.

Six assembly constituencies in Hajipur

Six assembly seats come under Hajipur reserved Lok Sabha seat. Among these, Hajipur and Laralganj are occupied by BJP. Rest are RJD MLAs in Raghopur, Mahua and Mehnar. Pratima Das of Congress is the MLA from Rajapakad reserved assembly seat.
