Navratri 2024: During the worship of Navratri, many householders worship the virgin girl. The importance of girl worship has also been mentioned in our scriptures. According to Srimaddevi Bhagwat, during this period the Mother Goddess is pleased with the worship of the virgin girl and showers immense blessings on her devotees.

In the worship of Kumari Kanya, the rules for worshiping girls between 2 years to 9 years have been explained. Only one girl can be worshiped every day or according to the capacity, number of girls can be worshiped date wise. That means, as the date increases, the number of girls should keep increasing. Apart from this, if there is more capacity, then the number can be doubled or even tripled per day. It is said in the scriptures that the more people are worshiped for their benefit, the more divine blessings they receive. The devotee should never have a narrow outlook during the puja.

In the order of Kumari worship, it is mentioned in the third canto of the first volume of Shrimaddevi Bhagwat – A 2 year old girl is called ‘Kumari’, whose worship leads to the destruction of sorrow and poverty, destruction of enemies and increase in wealth, age and strength. . Similarly, a 3 year old girl has been called ‘Trimurti’, whose worship leads to fulfillment of religion, wealth, work, arrival of wealth and growth of sons and grandchildren. Whereas a 4 year old girl is ‘Kalyani’, whose worship leads to learning, victory, kingdom and happiness. A worshiper holding a state post should worship ‘Kalyani’ only. Similarly, a 5 year old girl is considered ‘Kalika’, whose worship destroys enemies and a 6 year old girl is called ‘Chandika’, whose worship brings wealth and prosperity. The 7 year old girl is ‘Shambhavi Mata’, whose worship leads to destruction of poverty and misery, victory in wars and various disputes. At the same time, by worshiping 8 year old girl ‘Durga’ one gets good progress in the next world along with the opulence of this world and success in doing hard sadhana. In this sequence, for all the wishes, a 9 year old girl should worship ‘Subhadra’ and for the eradication of complex diseases, a 10 year old girl should be worshiped as ‘Rohini’.
Importance of offering different food items
Offering food is an essential part of Goddess worship. According to the scriptures, the importance of offering different food items to the Goddess on different dates has been explained. Offering cow’s ghee on Pratipada gives relief from diseases, offering sugar on Dwitiya gives a person long life, offering milk on Tritiya gives relief from sorrows, Malpua on Chaturthi gives relief from all kinds of troubles, Panchami On the ninth day, offering of banana increases intellectual capacity, on Shashthi day, on the day of Madhu (honey), one gets beautiful appearance, on Saptami, on Saptami, offering jaggery gives relief from grief and stress, on Ashtami, on Ashtami, offering coconut gives relief from depression and self-consciousness and on Navami, Offering lava of paddy brings happiness in this world and the next world.
As much as it is necessary to worship the Mother Goddess as per the rituals, it is equally important to worship her with full devotion. Mother will definitely accept the puja.
Women should take special care during the Aahuti
- Women should not make offerings with ghee, but should make offerings with Dashang. If you do not remember the mantra in Sanskrit, then remember some deity and say ‘Swaha’ at the end.
- Proper lighting of the fire and the flame rising towards the south is considered an auspicious sign.
- Instead of performing Havan in the open, Havan should be performed under the roof around the temple of the house, so that the waves of fire can be received by the Yagyakarta before they reach the gravity in the infinite sky.
- According to the tradition of your house, keep the number of the girl and worship her. The gift item should be good, make sure to give makeup items.
-Due to Ram Navami in Vasantik Navratri, there is a tradition of Parana on Dashami Tithi. - After feeding the items to the girl, some part of them should be kept as Prasad.
- It is best to break the fast by eating sweet items made from grains in this Prasad during Udyapan on Dashami Tithi.
- If there is any gap in the rules and regulations, neither repent nor be afraid. Believe that your mother never gets angry and express gratitude in every situation.
- If your attention gets distracted during worship, you should take deep breaths from the navel. The mind is concentrated.
