West Singhbhum: Children gave message of safety through street play, dance, qawwali

The 61st Safety Week was celebrated with great pomp by SAIL BSL’s Manoharpur and Mines Chiriya at Chiriya Gandhi Maidan. Earlier, under the leadership of Srinivas Rao of Tata Steel, officials from various mines inspected the stalls set up for the exhibition at Chiriya mine, BT Center and Gandhi Maidan. The model of Chandrayaan displayed in the exhibition was highly appreciated by the inspection team and the audience. Srinivas Rao, visitor of the inspection team and Kamal Bhaskar, CGM of Chiriya-Guva Mines, laid emphasis on safety and talked about adopting safety. The message of safety was given through street drama, dance and qawwali by the students of middle school and DAV school. The officials awarded prizes to the winning children. Finally the orchestra program started, which continued till late night. The artists lit a lamp and people stayed the whole night amid the shivering cold. RK Mishra, Sanju Sharma, Nisha Kumari, CR Mahakund, Arun Kumar, SK Singh, Dr. Rajkumar, Dr. Sushant, Ratna Patri etc. were present on the occasion.

Demand for distribution of blankets and arrangements for bonfire due to cold

The outbreak of cold wave has increased in 13 panchayats of Bandgaon block. Monday and Tuesday were the coldest days of this December month. The effect of frost was visible on the crops standing in the fields. People were feeling cold. People enjoyed the sunshine during the day. Here, people get respite during the day due to sunshine every day. As evening approached, people remained hidden in their homes. Twenty Point member cum Congress leader Mahesh Prasad Sahu has demanded from the administration to make arrangements for bonfires at all the intersections. Along with this, identify all the needy and distribute blankets among them. So that people can survive in the cold.
