The incident happened late on Tuesday night in front of the house of a local moneylender. The name of the deceased has been given as Pavitra Vishwas (26) and the place of residence is Uttarpara village. After the incident, there was an all-night fight among the agitated villagers in the area. After the incident the local moneylender fled away. Believing that he was a moneylender accused of murder, hundreds of villagers attacked his house and created a ruckus. There was vandalism and a four-wheeler was set on fire.

The moneylender is considered an accused after the murder and is absconding.

In view of the worsening situation and excitement in the village, a heavy police force led by a police officer from Kankasa police station reached there, only then the situation was controlled. According to the police, the grieving Vishwas family alleges that at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday night, local moneylender Shambhu Das had called Pavitra from home. Then when the young man came out, he was strangled. The allegation is that the associates of the money merchant first brutally beat Pavitra and then strangulated him to death. Sunil Mandal, maternal uncle of Pavitra Vishwas, claimed that Pavitra had called him on Tuesday night and asked him to save her. Sunil hurriedly went outside Shambhu Das’s house and saw that Pavitra was lying unconscious. However, they do not know who created the ruckus in Shambhu Vishwas’s house and set the car on fire. Suspected accused Shambhu Das is absconding since the incident.

Police caught two relatives of the suspected accused and took them to the police station, they are interrogating them.

Kankasa ACP Suman Kumar Jaiswal said that investigation into the murder has been started. The police took possession of the body from the private hospital of Rajbandh and sent it to Durgapur Departmental Hospital for postmortem. Police has started investigation on the complaint of victim Vishwas family against Shambhu Das. Police is searching for absconding Shambhu Das. In the case, the police are interrogating his son-in-law Gaurav Bala (35) and nephew Vikram Bala (23) in custody. Pavitra’s maternal aunt Itu Mandal told that Pavitra was not known since Tuesday night.

Then at around 1.30 in the night, Pavitra called his friends and called them in front of Shambhu’s house. He had expressed fear that his life might be taken. Then the sacred was not found there. Heavy police force arrived and took control of the situation

Through investigation, the police is trying to find out whether there was some dispute between Pavitra and Shambhu regarding interest dues, due to which the murder took place. Or, there is some other reason behind this. The police are also looking into whether there is any illicit relationship behind the murder. Also, Pavitra had no relation with Shambhu Das’s wife. If sources are to be believed, Shambhu had seen Pavitra in an objectionable condition with his wife. Since then there was a rift with his wife. That’s why he got Pavitra killed. The police is investigating the matter from every possible angle.
