West Bengal: Prohibition till 19 in 7 gram panchayats of Sandeshkhali, security tightened at BJP President’s hotel

Prohibitory orders have been imposed in 19 villages of 7 gram panchayats after the violence in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The prohibitory order imposed on 13 February has been extended till 19 February. At the same time, security around the hotel of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Sukant Majumdar has been tightened.

Prohibitory order imposed in these seven panchayats

Police have said that prohibitory orders have been imposed in Sandeshkhali, Durga Mandap, Korakati, Manipur, Khulna, Bermajur and Jeliakhali gram panchayats. Inspector-in-charge of Sandeshkhali police station said that Section 144 has been imposed in five villages of Sandeshkhali Gram Panchayat – Trimoni Bazaar, Khulna Ghat, Bholakhali Ghat, Sandeshkhali Ghat and Patrapada.

Section 144 also imposed in Durgapur Mandap and Manipur Gram Panchayat

At the same time, prohibitory order has been imposed in three villages of Durgapur Mandap Gram Panchayat – Gaberia Market, Daudpur and Dugripara. Section 144 has been imposed to maintain peace in Dhuchnikhali market of Korakati Gram Panchayat and Gopaler Ghat of Manipur Gram Panchayat.

Section 144 imposed till 19th February

Police station in-charge said that prohibitory order has been imposed in Situlia Bazaar, Khulna Bazaar and Hatgachha Bazaar of Khulna Gram Panchayat, while Section 144 has been imposed in Dhamakali Ghat, Attapur and Pulepada in Bermajur and Ajijer, Piparkhali Ghat and Halderpara in Jeliakhali Gram Panchayat. Prohibitory orders will remain in force within 500 meters of these areas till February 19.

DIG of Barasat said – Situation under control

On the violence in Sandeshkhali, Barasat Range DIG Sumit Kumar has said that the situation is under control. Section 144 has been imposed at 19 places. The people of Sandeshkhali are cooperating with the police, so that the situation can become normal. He said that the state government wants peace to be restored in the area as soon as possible. Additional security forces have been deployed for this.

SC Commission Chairman will visit Sandeshkhali tomorrow

Here, National Scheduled Caste Commission Chairman Arun Halder has decided to visit the violence-hit area of ​​Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas on 15 February. He has said that a delegation will also go to Sandeshkhali with him.

Security increased at BJP President’s hotel

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s agitation is also continuing against the violence that has been going on for several days in Sandeshkhali, demanding the arrest of Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan. West Bengal State BJP President Sukant Majumdar is staying in a hotel in this district. The security of that hotel has been tightened. Police vehicles have been parked outside the hotel gate.
