West Bengal: Police lathicharged on BJP supporters in Barrackpore, did not spare even women

In Barrackpore, West Bengal, BJP youth organization protested against the law and order situation in the state and district. During this period, the situation had become tense in Barrackpur of North 24 Parganas. BJP leaders and workers clashed with the police. State President of BJP Sukant Majumdar ( Sukanta Majumdar, He alleged that the police attacked him without any provocation. Women have been attacked. Sukant Majumdar said that he will complain about this to the Women’s Commission.

BJP workers broke the police barricade

BJP workers under the leadership of Sukant Majumdar broke the police barricade, after which the police stopped them from moving forward. Within no time, the area in front of the CP office in Barrackpore started looking like a battlefield. BJP alleges that the police pelted stones first. On the other hand, the police used water cannons to disperse the BJP procession. The police also lathi charged many supporters. Meanwhile DC (Central) Ashish Maurya reached the spot. A portion of BT Road has been diverted.

Police also stopped Dilip Ghosh

The BJP has said that the rally was taken out by the BJP’s Yuva Morcha leveling several allegations against its workers across the state, including mismanagement, police brutality and filing of false cases. MP Dilip Ghosh was present at the beginning of the program at LIC intersection in Medinipur. Dilipa Ghosh’s rally was stopped by the police at the gate itself. Then BJP took to the streets and protested. Dilip Ghosh said, “The democratic rights of our party are being looted. Program is not allowed If you program without permission you will get a ‘Case’. As soon as elections come, old cases are registered against BJP workers and they are put in jail. We are on the streets against this.
