There will be a pass-fail system four times in each semester. Initially the Council of Higher Secondary Education did not raise the issue of pass-fail in each semester. This decision has been taken later. The student will have to pass each semester of 11th and 12th, only then will he be able to go to the next semester. Such a decision has been taken by the Higher Secondary Education Council. That means there will be pass-fail in every semester.

The student concerned will not be ‘passed’ unless he obtains the minimum passing marks in each subject of each semester. He won’t be able to attend until next semester. However, the council has not specified what minimum marks a student must obtain to pass. Higher Secondary Education Council Secretary Priyadarshini Mallik said that even with the start of the semester process, the council is emphasizing on ensuring that the quality of evaluation does not decline. West Bengal Board of Higher Secondary Education has started the first semester process at the school level. Students have to obtain minimum marks in each semester, only then they will be able to move to the next semester. Students have to pass in every semester.

In this process, the first semester will be in November, second semester in March and third semester in November and fourth semester in next March.
