West Bengal: Howrah station is being monitored by DRM through integrated security system.

More than 10 lakh passengers travel here every day. This A-1 category station of the country has always been in the hitlist of terrorists, hence the railway administration has always been alert regarding the security of Howrah station. Now Railway Divisional Manager Sanjeev Kumar is also monitoring the station himself with state-of-the-art CCTV cameras. 280 state-of-the-art CCTV cameras have been installed at every nook and corner of Howrah station.

Currently 280 cameras at Howrah station

280 state-of-the-art CCTV cameras equipped with integrated security system are directly connected to the office of Howrah Divisional Manager. There is continuous live broadcast from these cameras connected to the 48-inch monitor installed in the DRM’s office. DRM said that through these cameras he monitors the old and new complexes of the station. The specialty of the high resolution camera is that the number plates of vehicles entering the cab road of the station are clearly recorded. With this, if needed, the cameras can be zoomed in on one person in a crowd of thousands and his face and movements can be clearly monitored under control.

Before the start of operation of St-West Metro, the work of installing cameras continues at other places also.

There is a CCTV control room of the integrated security system of Howrah station, where RPF personnel monitor the station premises 24 hours a day. 280 state-of-the-art CCTV cameras have been installed at every nook and corner of the station. DRM said that the safety of the station and passengers is our first priority. There are a total of 23 platforms at Howrah station including Old and New Complex. Divisional Manager Sanjeev Kumar said that the new East-West entry and exit is being made by demolishing the parcel area. The work has almost been completed. There is a possibility of a strong increase in the number of passengers once the Metro starts operating from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake. There will be a significant increase in passenger circulating area. In such a situation, cameras are not installed in the gene area, instructions have been given to install cameras there also.
