West Bengal: Gold worth Rs 3 crore seized on India-Bangladesh border, one arrested

Gold bars and bricks worth Rs 3.09 crore were seized at the India-Bangladesh border in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal and one person has been arrested. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. He told that from Haldarpara of Angrel border post area. Border Security Force (Border Security Force) has seized two gold bars weighing 4.82 kg and 30 gold biscuits.

BSF jawans arrested one

The soldiers guarding the border saw three persons in the Ichamati river, who were coming into India from Bangladesh. BSF jawans chased them and succeeded in catching one while the other one escaped. Officials said that the incident happened around 3 pm on Sunday afternoon. The accused has been identified as Prosenjit Mandal. The accused told the Border Security Force that a person had given him Rs 500 to cross the river and bring the gold consignment to India.

Border security force is in alert mode

When the local resident group went towards Bangladesh, a man was waiting for them with gold biscuits and rods. When Mandal was returning to India with gold biscuits and bars, he was caught by border security forces. Officials said that the Border Security Force has handed over the accused to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for further legal process. It is noteworthy that the process of conducting raid operations by BSF is continuing. So that the crimes taking place on the India-Bangladesh border can be tightened. If sources are to be believed, gold worth Rs 2 crore was seized by BSF on Friday also.
