West Bengal: DA is not mandatory, additional leaves are being given, CM’s strong message to government employees

Again a strong message has been given by the Chief Minister regarding the Dearness Allowance (DA) of the government employees of West Bengal state. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Regarding increasing the salaries of government employees, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that it is not mandatory to pay DA. Its payment depends on the willingness of the government. While speaking to the Assembly, the CM reminded the government employees that they get additional annual leave. Even the Chief Minister has claimed that government employees are given the opportunity to go abroad at government expense. Once in two years, government employees can go to neighboring countries like Nepal, Bhutan or Bangladesh. At the same time, once in five years they can visit any country in the world.

More than Rs 2 lakh 52 thousand crore spent on payment of DA

The Chief Minister said that more than Rs 2 lakh 52 thousand crore has been spent in the last two years for the payment of DA. The government has paid DA on the recommendation of the new pay commission. He also reminded government employees that dearness allowance is not mandatory. This is optional. It is noteworthy that state government employees have repeatedly complained that the central government is paying DA at the rate of 40 percent, whereas, state government employees get DA at a much lower rate. Even DA is outstanding for a long time. In this regard, the Chief Minister said that the employees of the center work according to its structure. They get DA and salary according to their work. CM said that government employees remember that they get more leave than central employees.

Only Bengal employees get pension

The Chief Minister said that West Bengal is the only state which gives pension to its employees. Many people have suggested closing it. This will reduce the amount of loan interest owed by the government. Even after retirement, people live for 20-30 more years. How will they run the family if they do not get pension? It is noteworthy that this is not the first time. Even before this, the Chief Minister had openly expressed her views on DA.
