Traffic control starts on Second Hooghly Bridge from today
, The Hooghly River Bridge Commission had decided a few months ago to repair the Second Hooghly Bridge i.e. Vidyasagar Setu. In the light of that decision, there is a plan to control the traffic through this bridge from Wednesday i.e. November 1st. It has been told that two lanes each in the up and down direction of the Second Hooghly Bridge will be kept open for light vehicles during the period of repair work. Big and heavy vehicles will be diverted between Howrah and Kolkata through alternative routes instead of this bridge. For this, Vivekananda Setu and Ishwar Setu located in Kalyani will also be used.
Central government can resolve ‘MNREGA’ dispute with Bengal
The central government is likely to resolve its dispute with the state over dues related to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) following the intervention of West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose. Raj Bhavan sources have given this information.
