Just before the start of Bengal Global Business Summit, the state government has changed the Chairman of West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation. Till now the president of this organization was Trinamool MLA Soumen Mohapatra. Now in his place, former Chief Secretary of the state Alapan Bandyopadhyay has been given this responsibility. MLA Soumen Mohapatra was removed from the cabinet by the government last August. However, despite being removed from the cabinet, Soumen Mohapatra was retained as the Chairman of the Corporation. Now he has been relieved of this responsibility also. It is noteworthy that Alapan Bandyopadhyay is currently the Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister of the state. He also holds the post of chairman of the state’s IT organization Webel and State Heritage Commission. Along with this, he has also been given the responsibility of Chairman of Small Industries Corporation.
