Instructions to repair all roads before puja
Durga Utsav is going to start in the next few days, but the condition of roads in many areas of the state is not yet good. The state secretariat has expressed concern about this and has directed the state public works department to complete the repair of the roads before the puja. It is noteworthy that on Thursday, officials of the State Public Works Department held a high-level meeting with the departmental engineers of all the districts through virtual medium. During the meeting, all the engineers were instructed to complete the repair work of the roads before the puja.
Special police arrangements at 42 Gangaghats on the day of Mahalaya
On the day of Mahalaya, special security arrangements have been made by the police at 42 small and big Ganga ghats of the city. Santosh Pandey, Joint Commissioner (Headquarters) of Kolkata Police, said that the major ghats include Baje Kadamtala Ghat, Babu Ghat, Takhta Ghat, Princep Ghat, Bagbazar Ghat. Apart from these, at other small ghats also, apart from the police from the local police station, the DMG team along with the river traffic police will be present on the boat. Every possible preparation has been made by the police to deal with any untoward incident.
