Fake notes worth Rs 1.54 lakh recovered

The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized fake currency notes worth about Rs 1.54 lakh from the India-Bangladesh border area in Malda. A BSF official told that the jawans of the 70th Corps, border outpost Lodhia under the South Bengal Frontier, saw the movement of smugglers on both sides of the barricade on the border. The jawans challenged the smugglers and started surrounding them. Seeing this, the smugglers got scared and started running in different directions. The jawans also chased the smugglers, but the smugglers fled from the spot taking advantage of the thick bushes. On searching the area, a packet was found, in which 77 fake notes of two thousand rupees were found. The counterfeit notes have been handed over to the Customs Department office at Kaliachak.

Smuggler caught with gold biscuits worth Rs 35.47 lakh from Petrapole

Border Security Force (BSF) jawans have caught a youth with five gold biscuits from the Integrated Check Post (ICP) Petrapole in North 24 Parganas. The cost of gold biscuits has been estimated at Rs 35.47 lakh. A BSF official said that during the checking of vehicles, the jawans of 145th Battalion of BSF at ICP Petrapole stopped a truck returning to India after leaving export goods in Benapole (Bangladesh) for search. During the search, the jawans found a packet wrapped in carbon paper from behind the helper seat inside the cabin of the truck. On opening the packet, five gold biscuits were found in it.

After this bill is passed, monitoring will be done regarding the increase in fees in private schools. In this regard, a senior official of the education department said that the school education department will go through the constitutional provisions before deciding whether minority institutions should be brought under the purview of the proposed commission, which will fix the fees of private schools. The state government has taken a step towards the establishment of the commission, the commission will have the right to determine the fees charged by private schools.

Jadavpur student dies after falling from hostel balcony

Uproar has started after the unnatural death of a student of Jadavpur University. According to police sources, the student died after falling from the third floor balcony of ‘A’ block of the main hostel of the university. The name of the deceased is Swapnadeep Kundu. He was a first year student of the Bengal department. Other students of the hostel claimed that they heard some heavy noise around 11.45 pm on Wednesday night.
