Dhupguri bypoll: Election campaign comes to an end, polling tomorrow amid tight security

Voting for the by-election to Dhupguri assembly seat will be held on September 5. Sunday was the last day of campaigning. The election campaign ended at 5 pm on this day. On the last day all the parties sweated a lot to woo the voters. State Urban Development Minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim did a road show on behalf of Trinamool Congress. On the other hand, CPI(M) state secretary and former MP Mohammad Salim campaigned for the Left Front and Congress-backed candidate. On the last day of the election campaign, Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari also held a public meeting. Now, amid tight security, the voting will be held on September 5 and the counting of votes will take place on September 8. A total of 30 companies of central forces will be deployed for the Dhupkudi by-election. 25 companies of Central Police Force have already reached for this election. According to information received from Election Commission sources, Section 144 will remain in force outside all polling stations on the day of counting of votes. Emphasis is being laid on ensuring that there should not be any disturbance during the elections and that the elections should be conducted in a peaceful manner.
