West Bengal: After the puja, government employees will protest in front of the state secretariat and Raj Bhavan regarding the outstanding DA.

The central government has increased the DA of its employees by four percent. With this, the difference in DA between central and state government employees will increase from 36 percent to 40 percent. At the same time, the government employees of the state have been agitating for the last 265 days under the banner of Sangrami Samyukt Manch. Now the employees have decided to intensify the movement. In this regard, Sangrami Joint Manch convenor Bhaskar Ghosh said that after the puja, the movement will be intensified to demand the outstanding DA. He said that after the announcement of increase in DA by the Central Government, they will now get 40 percent less DA than their central counterparts. With four percent DA increase, central government employees will get 46 percent DA. State government employees are getting only six percent DA.

Sangrami Joint Manch will intensify the movement to demand outstanding DA

He said that the Central Government did not ignore the needs of the employees and announced DA at regular intervals. But the Bengal government does not take care of its employees. That’s why we are getting 40 percent less DA. The leader of Sangrami Joint Manch said that soon we will seek permission to protest in front of the State Secretariat Nabanna Bhawan and Raj Bhawan and we will continue our agitation until the government pays our dues.

DA case likely to be heard in Supreme Court in November

It is noteworthy that earlier, the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) had ordered the West Bengal government to pay DA to its employees at par with the central employees and clear the dues. The government had challenged the SAT order in the Calcutta High Court and the High Court also upheld the SAT order and asked the state to pay the dues within three months. However, this decision of the High Court has been challenged by the state government in the Supreme Court. This matter is likely to be heard in the Supreme Court in November.
