West Bengal: Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said, BJP can present Abhishek Banerjee as the next Chief Minister of Bengal.

State Congress President in West Bengal Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary (Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, claimed on Tuesday that the script of the ongoing “rift” between senior and youth leaders of the state’s ruling Trinamool Congress has been written by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He also alleged that in the coming days, BJP may present Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee as the next Chief Minister of West Bengal.

Internal differences in the party came to the fore during the 27th Foundation Day celebrations of Trinamool Congress on Monday. Its senior leaders took a dig at Abhishek Banerjee, to which the next generation leaders reacted sharply. Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said, ‘The script of whatever drama is going on has been written by BJP. Don’t be surprised if someday BJP starts projecting Abhishek as the next Chief Minister. This is the reason why ED and CBI have become silent against him.

He alleged that Abhishek, nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, suddenly turned “anti-Congress” in 2021 after being interrogated by the ED for nearly nine hours at its New Delhi office. The controversy in the Trinamool Congress came to light after Mamata Banerjee stressed on the need to give due respect to senior party members and denied the claim that elderly leaders should retire from active politics. After this, Abhishek Banerjee talked about the retirement age in politics, citing decline in work efficiency and productivity with increasing age. Abhishek Banerjee is considered to be leading the youth brigade of Trinamool Congress.
