of West Bengal Jalpaiguri district (Jalpaiguri district, Railway services were disrupted on Friday morning due to the blockade of railway tracks by members of Akhil Kamtapur Students Union (AKSU) in support of their demand for a separate state. Officials said that the blockade at Betgara station of New Jalpaiguri-New Bongaigaon block of Northeast Frontier Railway started at 7 am. He said that due to the blockade, rail services are disrupted on all important routes. The trains which have been affected include New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express.
AKSU is agitating demanding separate Kamtapur state
He said that Railway Protection Force officials and state police are talking to the protesters and trying to convince them to move off the tracks. The protesters said the blockade would continue till 7 pm but railway officials said they expected services to resume before then. The protesters raised slogans against both Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party for not fulfilling their demands. AKSU, the student wing of Kamtapur People’s Party United, is agitating demanding a separate Kamtapur state.

The Rail Roko campaign ended within 3 hours. The agitators submitted a memorandum to the higher officials of the Railways. AKSU has given the dateline till 28th February. They have warned that if their demands are not met, the protesters may go on strike in North Bengal. He says that he should get his kingdom back. Now we want our long awaited separate state but no hearing is taking place. That’s why we have to demonstrate again and again.
