Welfare department did not find tribal candidates in Deoghar

Deoghar: No tribal candidates were found in Deoghar for giving scholarship to the Welfare Department in the financial year 2023-24. Due to this, Rs 1.5 crore received by the Welfare Department was surrendered. The Welfare Department had received this amount in March, but not a single application from tribal students for scholarship was received. On March 31, the department surrendered Rs 1.5 crore to the district treasury.

According to the department, the list of tribal students from all the recognized educational institutions was received by the Welfare Department office, the scholarship amount was transferred to the bank accounts of the tribal students of those institutions. The list of additional tribal students for the remaining amount of Rs 1.5 crore did not come from the educational institutions, due to which the amount had to be surrendered. Now the question is arising whether the number of tribal students has decreased across the district? Due to which the amount had to be surrendered.
