Water level in Fika barrage above flood level, Gauriganga river crossing danger mark

According to information received from the State Emergency Operation Centre, the Gauriganga river has crossed the danger mark in Pithoragarh district, while the water level at Fika barrage in Udhamsinghnagar district has gone above the maximum flood level. The Gauri Ganga river is flowing above the danger mark at Munsiyari and Bangapani in Pithoragarh district, while the Fika barrage at Jaspur in Udhamsinghnagar district has crossed the maximum water level. In view of the increase in their water level, instructions have been issued to the District Magistrates of the concerned districts to continuously monitor it and take adequate precautions. On the other hand, due to heavy rains in Chamoli district, the rivers are in full spate. In Tharali area of ​​the district, the water level of Pindar and its tributary river Pranmati has risen again, causing flood situation in the coastal areas. After the rains in Tharali Nagar since August 13, flood-like conditions are created in the coastal areas due to the rise of Pranmati.

The velocity of water and debris in the Pranmati river flowing through Sol valley had increased so much after heavy rains last week that it stopped the flow of Pindar river for some time and a lake was formed at the confluence of Pranmati and Pindar. The river water was flooded in the low-lying area before the main market of Tharali, which later came out, but the temple, farm and other places built there were covered with debris, sand and boulders. However, on August 13, in view of the flood-like situation, the houses located around the coast were evacuated, due to which there was no loss of life.

Landslides continue in Uttarakhand due to rain

Due to landslides due to rain, Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway has been closed near Chamoli at many places like Chhinka, Maithana, Nandprayag, Pagalnala and Belakuchi. The Rishikesh-Chamba-Dharasu National Highway is blocked for traffic due to debris from the mountain near Bagadhar in Tehri. Rishikesh-Devprayag-Srinagar National Highway is also closed due to landslide. Kotdwar-Dugadda National Highway in Pauri is blocked for traffic. National Highway 74 is closed due to damage to the bridge built over the Dhela river at Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district. In Pithoragarh district, the Ramganga Bridge-Quiti-Birthi National Highway is blocked for traffic due to flowing near Banik.

Heavy rain at many places during last 24 hours

Heavy rains were recorded at many places in the state during the last 24 hours. 183 mm in Leeti, 100 mm in Kashipur, 62 mm in Bajpur, 60 mm in Narendranagar, 51.5 mm in Munsiyari, 50 mm in Jaspur and Gairsain, 49 mm in Uttarkashi, 42 in Karnprayag, 41.9 mm in Dehradun, 48.2 mm in Didihat , 40 mm of rain was recorded in Rudrapur and 39.4 mm in Chamoli.

Red alert issued for these districts

In its latest forecast, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for rain for Wednesday in eight districts of the state – Tehri, Dehradun, Pauri, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar and issued an orange alert in Chamoli and Rudraprayag. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain and very intense period of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. In view of this, schools from classes 1 to 12 were kept closed in red alert districts. All schools in Dasholi and Nandanagar development blocks of Chamoli district also remained closed on Wednesday.
