Dense fog is visible in some parts of Bihar, Delhi and UP. Dense fog prevailed in various parts of North India on Friday, due to which visibility reduced considerably. It went below the freezing point in the hilly areas of Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. According to the India Meteorological Department, there was fog in different parts of Odisha and Bihar, which is expected to last till Sunday. Visibility reduced to about 50 meters in parts of Rourkela, Gaya and Patna.
Issuing a cold wave warning, the Meteorological Department said that there may be ‘dense to very dense fog’ in the Delhi-NCR region for the next two days. There is a possibility of cold wave conditions in some parts of Delhi on 30th and 31st December. The department has predicted that the maximum and minimum temperatures on Saturday will be around 19 and 10 degrees Celsius respectively.
These days the minimum temperature in Jharkhand is 11 to 14 degrees Celsius. This is two to four degrees more than normal. There will be fog in the morning in Jharkhand on 30th and 31st December and the weather will be dry during the day. However, the cold will increase in the evening. The Meteorological Center has predicted light and moderate rain in the western areas of the state including Palamu on the evening of January 1 due to the active western disturbance. This cloud, which started from Palamu, will cover Ranchi and surrounding areas by the evening of January 2. Due to this, there may be light rain with thunder in many areas of Ranchi, whereas on January 3 and 4, the entire Jharkhand is expected to be cloudy and receive light and moderate rain.
A new western disturbance is forming in the western Himalayan region from 30th December. Due to this, rainy season may start in Bihar for a few days from January 2. According to the official forecast of IMD, moderate to dense fog may occur at some places in the districts of Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jehanabad, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad etc. Due to this, some increase in morning cold is possible.
According to Zonal Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, dense fog will once again show its effect in the state on Saturday also. The effect of dense fog will continue in the entire state on 30th and 31st December also. Apart from this, the weather is likely to remain dry in Eastern Uttar Pradesh on December 31, while there may be rain and thundershowers at isolated places in Western Uttar Pradesh. On January 1, 2024, there are chances of rain and thundershowers at one or two places in the entire state. On January 2, the weather will remain dry in western Uttar Pradesh while there are chances of rain and thundershowers in Purvanchal.
In Himachal Pradesh, Shimla and surrounding areas are seeing partly cloudy sky, while moderate to dense fog is being seen at some places in the lower hills. Severe cold continues in the lower hills and the mercury is being recorded around the freezing point.
There is a possibility of snowfall in the high altitude areas of Darjeeling district of West Bengal in the end of this year and in the new year. The Meteorological Department said in its forecast on Friday that due to this, tourists coming in the hope of seeing snow on the mountains can get to see a very beautiful sight.
The year 2023 may depart with rain in Madhya Pradesh. The weather is likely to change once again due to the western disturbance becoming active on 30th. Rain may start in many parts of the state on 30-31, this rain is expected to continue till January 2. Due to the effect of new western disturbance, rain with clouds can be seen in many cities of the state including Ujjain, Gwalior and Chambal divisions from December 30 to January 2.
According to meteorologists, the minimum temperature in Chhattisgarh will drop before the New Year, due to which the cold will also increase. There is a possibility of more cold in the first week of January.
